Review Atlantis House, Key West, FL

Photo Album

The Atlantis House, all dressed up for the Holidays. Long a locals favorite, the Christmas decorations are a gift to Key West from owners Steve and Kayla who were honored to receive first place in the Chamber of Commerce "Island of Lights" holiday decor contest in 2008.As you sit on the deck enjoying your morning coffee surrounded by lush tropical gardens that look out to a 15 acre indigenous park and wildlife reserve, often you can see an array of native and migrating birds from hummingbirds to eagles and falcons. Steve's passion for gardening is apparent with his unique collection of orchids, air plants, bromeliads, cactus and other succulents. Key West Aloe is abundent here and is prized for it's medicinal properties. Since aloe propigates and travels so nicely Steve loves to offer our guests a Key West aloe plant to take home as a living memory of their stay.
Both suites open out through French doors to a private 700 sq. ft. deck where you will find lounge chairs for sunning and outdoor tables and chairs for alfresco dining. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with exotic plant and coral rock gardens around a breezy little, vine covered gazebo. For your convenience there is complimentary off street parking, wireless internet and a set of bicycles on the property.Steve's Bromeliad Garden adds a burst of color year round.
Lushly decorated with an ecclectic flair the décor is accented with antiques from the Nouveau, Deco and Retro Scandinavian periods. The Master suite is approximately 600 sq. ft. and has a king size bed, 17 ft. vaulted ceilings, ceiling fans, central A/C, wrap around bar with seating, tiled floors, VCR/CD/DVD player, Wireless Internet, full cable TV with Premium Channels, On Demand, DMX music system. The wet bar area has a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, blender and all necessary utensils. The Master suite's over-sized bath (10x16) features a 9 ft. vanity with double sinks over which hang Baroque framed mirrors, separate lighted make-up vanity, separate water closet, spacious clear glass shower, and best of all...
... a huge Jacuzzi tub in the privacy of your own room. Above the tub is a large skylight and on each side of the tub, there is an antique crystal grape cluster wall sconce that creates the perfect atmosphere and romantic lighting. In addition to the double sinks, the Master Suite offers a separate lighted make-up vanity.
The Garden suite, at 350 sq. ft., is romantic and charming. As you enter the suite through Fench doors, you are greeted by an inviting daybed in the living area that is covered with comfy, overstuffed pillows over which a cranberry tulle netting is suspended creating a romantic, tropical ambience. Perfect for an afternoon nap! Beyond the pass-through that separates the living area from the sleeping area, is a comfy queen size bed with Jamaican wicker nightstands on either side. The Garden Suite has A/C, Wireless Internet, cable TV, a wet bar with fridge, coffee maker, micro-wave, utensils, plates and other necessary items.
The bedroom opens into an 8 x 10 tangerine bath that is tiled from floor to ceiling and utilizes a unique design that has a open shower with bench, 9 ft vaulted ceilings with recessed lighting, an 18 sq. ft. skylight, separate water closet, glass block inserts, vanity area and, of course, a large Jacuzzi tub for two.Rest Beach, only steps away from Atlantis House is seen here at low tide with the White Street Fishing Pier.
The pathway along Rest Beach is paralled by the East Coast Greenway Bike Trail, which connects Maine to Key West, FL and ends 1 block from Atlantis House and is busy daily with rollerbladers, runners and bikers.View of the Atlantis House and Rest Beach from the White Street Fishing Pier. A couple of kiteboarders take a break to snorkel at the Key West Marine Park. Atlantis House offers complimentary beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas, as well as snorkel gear.
One block from Atlantis House is the Key West Marine Park, Higgs Beach and the East Martello which houses the Key West Garden Club. Higgs Beach is great for Volleyball, basking in the sun and having a bite to eat at Salute, one of the only restaurants on the Beach in Key West. Higgs Beach also has public Tennis Courts.Atlantis House is the recipient of the Mayor's Award for the "Cleanest Greenest Business" in Key West, the 1st guesthouse in Key West to receive this award and is the current 2007-2008 Award recipient for "The Best of the South" from Bedandbreakfast.
