We are lowering the price of the Ira Allen House Inn to $599,000. My wife Maria has been running the Inn for 8 years now by herself. The annual gross sales from the Inn are between $50,000 and $70,000. We have shown no profits in the 8 years. Maria loves the Inn and has worked very hard to make it a warm and comfortable place to visit, she has many repeat customers. I continue to work in NJ as a teacher and unfortunately have not been able to find a comparable job locally. I have also not been willing to take a leap of faith and make the Inn my priority and career maybe because I don't have the love for it as Maria does. It really is a fantastic Inn built by Ethan Allen and his brother Ira, a registered historic site. The 12 acre property is the finest in the area with beautiful Battenkill River frontage at the base of the Equinox Mountain. It is a turnkey operation with a great web site, on-line reservations and a loyal following. It has been continually updated and cared for since we have been the owners.

We live in the house next door to the Inn. This was our summer home before we purchased the Inn. It is also a circa 1775 property. The up keep, maintenance and cost of keeping these two old homes has become too much of a burden so we are trying to simplify our situation. The entire family loves Vermont and we intend to stay here we just need to downsize. The House is also for sale and at this point which ever property sells we will live in the one that is left.
