The Noftsger Hill Inn is a two-story neoclassical structure that was built in 1907 as the North Globe Schoolhouse. It is located on scenic Noftsger Hill overlooking the historic mining town of Globe, the Pinal Mountains and the Old Dominion Mine. The building is constructed of poured concrete brick and the walls are concrete stucco. In 1917, the size of the building was doubled to approximately 13,000 sq. ft. The building has a basement and is situated on about 1 acre of land. Generations of successful Arizonans were educated at the school, including Rose Mofford, former Governor of Arizona.

The school classrooms have been converted to spacious guestrooms with large sitting areas and 14’ ceilings. What were once cloak rooms, now serve as bathrooms for five of the guestrooms; however one room is served by a bathroom across the hall which is not shared, but simply not in the room. Currently there are six guestrooms as well as the owners’ living quarters. The classrooms are still “decorated” with the original blackboards used in years past. There is also the potential to increase the number of guestrooms to ten – as two of the larger classrooms have not been restored and can easily be made into a total of four rooms. The sizeable guestrooms and dining room lend themselves well for retreats and special functions.

The Inn is located approximately 90 miles east of Phoenix and 90 miles north of Tucson at an elevation of slightly less than 4000’. The largest inland lake in AZ, Roosevelt Lake, is located just 20 miles north of Globe where boating, camping and great fishing are available. White water rafting is available through the Salt River Canyon. About an hour and a half north, in the White Mountains, snow skiing is available on the White Mountain Apache Reservation in the wintertime. The Tonto National Forest surrounds Globe on three fronts, with the San Carlos Apache Reservation to the east. One of the best golf courses in Arizona, the Apache Stronghold Golf Club, is located at the reservation. The Pinal Mountains, bordering Globe to the north, have numerous hiking trails available, as well as, excellent birding.

Other sightseeing and tourism attractions in the area include Besh-ba-Gowah Archaeological Park, Cobre Valley Center for the Arts, Gila County Historical Museum, Historic Downtown Miami, San Carlos Apache Cultural Center, Apache Gold Casino, Roosevelt Lake & Dam, Apache Leap, Copper Hills Ghost Town, Boyce Thompson Arboretum and Sunrise Ski Resort.
