This is a well-established and popular, award-winning Door County B&B set in a prominent three story Victorian home on a corner lot in a quiet historic neighborhood, three blocks from downtown shopping, restaurants, and cultural venues.
Built in 1900 by a local industrialist, the house is architecturally significant as a transitional style from Queen Anne to Craftsman, with an ornate stone, shingle, and clapboard exterior. The house features an expansive, wrap-around front porch and a unique circular solarium that guests enjoy year round.
The finely crafted interior boasts extensive original natural oak woodwork, paneling, and built-ins throughout the house. The massive oak fireplace and main staircase are both original. The house also has the original maple floors, leaded glass windows, brass door knobs and hinges throughout. The owner's quarters on the first floor feature a spacious, working kitchen with large prep/serving island, butler's pantry, and modern appliances. There is a large formal dining room as well as the solarium for serving up to ten guests. The first floor also has two front parlors – currently open for guests to enjoy – which can easily be closed off to increase the owner’s living quarters if desired. Three guest rooms and library are on the 2nd floor. The 3rd floor is a private suite with bedroom, bath, and sitting room. There is also an occasional use guest room on the 2nd floor rear with separate access off the kitchen – this could also be added to living quarters. All guest rooms have private baths with walk-in showers. One has the original 109 year old claw-foot tub – a real antique-lover’s dream. There are whirlpool tubs in two rooms. The house has a total of four working gas fireplaces. There is extensive landscaping, including an herb and edible flower garden. Most of the antique furniture will be included with the sale of the house. New roof just completed in fall of 2009.
Prospective buyers will be purchasing a successful business in a thriving community. Revenue has increased every year since 2004 with minimal increases in room rates. Door County's tourist economy continues to grow despite decreases in the rest of the state. Our local city and county visitor's bureaus boast a strong marketing presence, and the Reynolds House maintains a large and loyal repeat clientele.
Come and see why the Reynolds House was twice voted “Best B&B of the Midwest” by Midwest Living magazine. Truly a great find.
