The Phipps Inn is the premier Queen Anne Victorian bed and breakfast in the St. Croix River Valley of Western Wisconsin. It is located on Historic Third Street in the beautiful city of Hudson where it is a short walk to downtown restaurants, shops and the river. This nearly 8000 square foot house has many common areas including a billiards room, two porches, a large dining room, music room and three parlors which are all spacious, warm and elegant.
The house has 11 fireplaces, beautiful original stained glass windows and intricate woodwork throughout. All 6 Phipps Inn guest rooms have fireplaces (2 wood-burning, 4 gas), whirlpool tubs as well as private baths with separate shower. The house has 3 forced air furnaces (two replaced in 2013) and whole house air conditioning. A new roof was installed in 2012. The exterior was painted in 2011.
The inn will be sold turn key. Included in the sale are many antiques, a baby grand piano, pool table, 12 foot dining table with 14 matching chairs, a set of china, table linens, common area furniture, kitchen appliances including two refrigerators, two washers and two dryers as well as bedroom furnishings and bed and bath linens.
Owners’ quarters are in the lowest level with walk-out to the back yard. This very private space has three bedrooms (2 with walk-in closets), 2 bathrooms and a living room with gas fireplace. A detached two car garage and a tool shed are also on the large corner lot.
Biking, boating, skiing, and hiking are among the activities enjoyed by our guests. Hudson has over 12 one of a kind restaurants, most within 5 blocks of the inn. There are many varied and interesting shops in the downtown area. The Phipps Center for the Arts, also downtown, offers plays, concerts, and galleries. We are six miles from Stillwater and thirty minutes from the Mall of America and the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN. 80-85% of Phipps Inn guests are from the Twin Cities.
