The Riven Rock Ranch: Family Homestead • Gentleman's Ranch • Vineyard • Bed & Breakfast • Event Center • Wedding Venue • Destination Restaurant • Corporate Retreat
Located deep in the heart of Texas Hill Country and loved by all who visit, Riven Rock Ranch is a destination inn and restaurant named as a “Top 10 Best New Places to Stay” by Texas Monthly and by Southern Living as “One of the South’s Coziest Inns.”
More than 3,600 square feet has been restored from the original home built in the 1940s and then seamlessly connected with 6,400 square feet of new space, all surrounded by more than 2,800 square feet of covered porches.
Located just down the hill from the main house but accessible to the entire property, the pool is a blue oasis in a field of native greens and browns. It includes a 500-square-foot cabana with a full bathroom and dressing area, full kitchen, outdoor kitchen, fireplace, and 400 square feet of covered eating area.
Life on a Texas Ranch.
The vineyards, the 4500 feet of river frontage, the hay fields, the horses, the olive trees—these take this supreme collection of Hill Country architecture and elevate the experience well beyond any city parcel of land could ever dream. The vineyards include 1,700 5-year-old vines of carefully tended tempranillo and viognier grapes, with the vitner next door just waiting for the first fully mature crop. You may beat him to it, though, as the ranch includes an 8,400-square-foot building envisioned just for this purpose—and large enough to accommodate a 7,000-case winery.
The river runs alongside the ranch at the bottom of the bluff, including 4,500 feet of river frontage and 92 feet of adjudicated water rights. Translation: put in your canoe and row. Or jump off the stone dock and swim. Or fish. Or float. River frontage on the Guadalupe is highly coveted in the Hill Country, and this ranch is perfectly positioned to offer any number of water activities.
Equestrian options are available as well. The ranch includes three horse barns and twelve stalls. The first one sits pretty as a postcard, a classic red barn built in 1910 with two stalls. Another from the 1920s has four stalls, an office , and storage. The new barn, built in 2006, includes six horse stalls, two full bathrooms, a drive-through wash rack, and storage for 600 bales of hay — the perfect amount to feed six horses for the year. With more than 200 acres on the property, there's ample room to develop an equestrian program for professionals or guests.
