Come back to a time when "cotton was king" and living was gracious and easy. Picture yourself among the guests that often promenaded around the block and later gathered in the ballroom of the Page House to enjoy dancing and musical performances. Such was the way of life for the residents of homes on Bellevue Avenue. Locals refer to these homes on "Millionaire's Row" as the "mansions that cotton built." The Page House is located in the heart of the historic district at the corner of Bellevue Avenue and Elm Street. It is next to the Laurens County Library, within walking distance from parks and recreation facilities, churches, banks, and a post office. A stroll under the tree shaded streets will take you to antique and gift shops. Downtown is just four blocks away, with plenty of shops, restaurants, Theatre Dublin, and the Laurens County Historical Society and Museum.
Built in 1903, the Page House is constructed in a Classic Greek Revival style and was once referred to as the grandest home south of Atlanta. Its’ 7,000 s/f of space includes a large Ballroom on the first floor, which is utilized as the main dining room for our breakfast guests, 7 guest rooms and a private Innkeeper’s quarters. The Ballroom is an excellent venue for elegant gatherings for rehearsal dinners, weddings and wedding receptions, meetings and community presentations. Space is adequate for seating 55 people in the Ballroom, with additional seating in side areas to accommodate up to 75 people. Stand-up receptions can easily accommodate 200 people. There is handicap access to the first floor. The kitchen meets all codes for catering and has all of the appliances for a full-scale restaurant. Also, on the first floor is the Page Room, which is the only handicap-accessible bedroom for guests. The Page Room has a king bed and a private bath with a tub/shower unit. Three restrooms are available for public use during events. There are approx. 25 on-site parking spaces, with additional parking along side streets and at the public library next door.
The Grand Staircase is the access to the second floor, with a large landing area for socializing and relaxing and access to 5 guest rooms. The Lovett Room is a king-bed suite, with a kitchenette and large bath suite with a whirlpool tub. The Smith, Porter and Keen Rooms have queen-beds with trundle beds available. The Dublin Room has a queen bed and a single bed. All rooms have private baths. There is a laundry room on this floor for B&B use.
The third floor is the Innkeeper's apartment (1,700 s.f.) and the 7th guest room (with private bath) that is a great option for long-term lodging. The Innkeeper's apartment has a full kitchen and laundry room, a dining room, a master's suite with on-suite bathroom, and two additional bedrooms. Currently, the Innkeeper's have temporarily converted the two extra bedrooms into an office space and den. A staircase is available to the B&B guests, which leads to the “Widow's Walk” on top of the house, a great place for relaxing in the sun or enjoying a peaceful evening as the sun sets.
A 14’ x 24’ detached shop is a great facility for maintenance equipment and it has a loft for extra storage. It could also be divided to provide an on-site gift shop to increase income.
The Innkeeper's are making changes in their career and life paths, mainly due to their new "Empty Nest" and the desire to be available to the new directions their grown children are taking. Dublin will remain home, and the Innkeeper's are willing to assist any new owners in a transition period.
