Simplicity, elegance and beauty describe this 1913 Country Manor House that has become the Inn at Glen Alpine. The town of Glen Alpine is nestled between two mountain ranges--the South Mountains can be seen from the front porch and the Blue Ridge from the back. It is also only minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Lake James, Interstate 40, two state parks, one National Park, a National Forest and two Wilderness Areas. Glen Alpine is 45 miles east of Asheville, 25 miles west of Hickory and 3 miles north of Interstate 40. The Inn at Glen Alpine is already a thriving business as a bed and breakfast, a venue for weddings, parties, festivals and reunions, and provides a lovely home for the owners. This turn-key operation is waiting for new energetic owners to take it to the next level of success.
The Inn features four spacious guest rooms with private baths. Two of the rooms are suites--one with a sitting room and one on the first level with a two person Jacuzzi. The fifteen hundred square foot porch invites guests to sit and relax. Five acres surround the Inn and include the venue for festivities, a large parking area and nature trail through the woods. There is also plenty of room to build self contained cabins for long term stay guests or pet friendly lodging. A separate entrance from Catawba street is also available for this project.
Besides the ample porch, there are two common rooms inside on the first level for the use of the guests. Also on the first level is the guest dining room, half bath, large kitchen, laundry with HE washer and HE gas dryer, plus the sun room, which is the owner's sitting room and where guests also like to gather.
Outbuildings include a food preparation area with a large bathroom and storage room; a covered pavilion for dining and dancing; and a shed for lawn care equipment.
The two room plus bath owners quarters is on the second level. The basement and attic offer plenty of storage. The attic could become a third floor for the home.
Restoration of the building was completed in 2003. This included two air conditioners and two furnaces, plus bathrooms for all the rooms. A new roof and exterior paint was complete in 2007.
Come see for yourself the beauty and charm of this magnificent bed and breakfast home.
