What’s new for the 2011-2012 awards?
We reduced the number of overall categories to make them optimal for media pick-up. We went from over 100 winners in the past to 41 annual winners this year.
In the past, traveler reviews were the only awards criteria. This year, we also considered properties’ online presentation on BedandBreakfast.com.
How were the Best of BedandBreakfast.com Award winners selected?
There were two components to selecting this year’s winners. The first and most important was traveler reviews on BedandBreakfast.com in the past year. We conducted a qualitative and quantitative analysis of reviews.
Unlike previous years, a second component was properties’ online presentation. This means that we looked at the property listings on BedandBreakfast.com, including photos and descriptions.
Membership level, length of membership, and previous winner status were not a consideration.
What is the BedandBreakfast.com Awards Series?
For the 2011-2012 awards, we wanted to continue to showcase outstanding properties throughout the year and give more properties the chance to be included in the awards. Each month, we will have a different category and select the top ten inns in that category.
The first of the monthly BedandBreakfast.com Awards Series winners will be announced in December 2011.
If a property receives a critical review, will it disqualify them from award consideration?
No. Even the best properties receive a critical review from time to time, and this would not disqualify any property from consideration for an award.
When will I receive my award winner plaque?
Award plaques will be shipped to winners in November 2011. When the plaques are shipped, winners will receive an email with tracking information. Please note that only the winners of the main awards will receive plaques; the winners of the monthly series will not receive plaques.
How do I add an award winner badge to my website?
Award winners will receive the awards badge via email when they are notified that they have won an award. If you are a winner and do not receive the email, please contact us by
filling out our web form, and they will forward the badge and linking information to you.
